Pre Registration or Initial Registration for Overseas Nurses (IRON Program)

The Registration Bridging Program for overseas qualified Nurses  or  Initial Registration for Overseas Nurses (IRON) is  a short  course, non-award program in Australia for the Nurses who is  a qualified nurse in their country and  working as a registered Nurse in their country other  than Australia. This is an orientation programme for overseas Nurses to get oriented to the health care system in Australia.

This course is a mandatory requirement for the overseas Nurses to get registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner  Regulation  Agency) and  allows to work as a registered nurse in Australia.

The overseas Nurses who successfully complete the RBP/ IRON will attain the necessary competencies set by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council’s  (ANMAC) National Competency Standards for registration as a Registered Nurse with the APHRA.

  Course Outcome

Upon successful completion of the program nurses are able to gain registration as Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
1) Can work as a Registered Nurse in Australia
2) Registered Nurses may be eligible for applying Permanent Residency application. The criteria for PR changes time to time. Refer   DIAC website for further information.
3) Can undertake further studies including Post Graduate Nursing courses.

English Language Requirement:

IELTS score of 7.0 and no band less than 7.0

Entry Requirement:

Bachelor of Nursing Science (Currently working as a registered nurse), Eligibility letter from AHPRA.

Leads to a Registration: As an RN with NMBA
