Prospective students are advised to travel to Mauritius only after their application for study/training in Mauritius has been approved. The application for Student Visa should be made to the Passport and Immigration Office by the respective tertiary educational institution or TVET institution where the student is enrolled. The application for visa for the practical training course which forms part of higher studies should be made directly to the Passport and Immigration Office by the trainee or by the receiving institution/enterprise in Mauritius.

Note that a test for HIV, Hepatitis B and a chest X ray should be done at any private medical laboratory/clinic/hospital in Mauritius and the tests results and Chest X ray report should be submitted to the Passport and Immigration office not later than one month after arrival.
Students are allowed to undertake part-time jobs provided they fulfil the conditions of employment set down by the Passport and Immigration Office, the Tertiary Education Commission and Mauritius Qualifications Authority. These conditions vary from time to time, so please check with your education provider for the latest norms.
Generally, students should be holders of at least a pass in 2 A-levels or alternative equivalent and qualifications that are acceptable to the Ministry of Education, and Human Resources, Tertiary Education and Scientific Research, Mauritius. They should hold an attestation of proficiency in English which is internationally recognised, either an IELTS test with an overall band score of at least 6.0 or a TOEFL score of 60-78.
Each student will be assigned an identity card for employment purposes.
